typical of any new mom…i can’t get enough of her adorable face!! i could just stare at her f.o.r.e.v.e.r. those eyes, chubby cheeks, her cute little chin…
her soft skin, her clean breath, her rosy cheeks, her fluffy hair, her big pouty lips, her well groomed eyebrows, her tiny little toes, her funny expressions, i could go on and on. kids are so stinkin’ cute, especially your own! 🙂 it takes all of my self control to not squeeze her so hard! so instead, i just shriek “i love you soooooo much!!!”, she probably already thinks i’m a crazy mom. oh, olive…be still my heart ♥.
it’s always fun to peruse the stores and web for fun valentine’s day goodies. valentine’s day comes at a perfect time in this dreary winter. it brings bright colors and fun goodies to our lives!
i loved valentine’s day as a kid. it was fun, exciting, and sweet! i loved, loved getting valentine’s day cards at school. it was fun collecting them and seeing how cute they all were. of course, it was a joy to decorate your own valentine’s day mailbox! finding the perfect empty shoe box and cutting out your own designs from the red, white, and pink construction paper, making it as pretty and lacy as possible! best part of valentine’s day at school?! having a party at the end of the day, eating home baked cookies that were brought in from a few classmate’s moms, and going home with a lot of sweet treats!
looking at all the cute valentine’s day decor had me reminiscing! below are a few cute, sweet items i found for the upcoming holiday!
little girl’s dress from etsy // pbk plates // pugs n kisses from etsy // vintage cupid decor from etsy // pbk valentine’s day mailbox
how adorbs is this dress? unfortunately, it doesn’t come in little baby sizes but i couldn’t help but crush on it a little bit! i want to buy this, for when olive gets a little bit older.
i love, love these vintage style plates from pottery barn kids. the designs are so whimsy and festive. so adorbs and perfect for a holiday table, topped with sweets!
these sweet treats are perfect for anyone on valentine’s day. yummy, cute decorated sugar cookies are always a great gift for anyone, like for myself 😉
a little vintage cupid would be perfect floating around the window, shooting his arrows at strangers, playing matchmaker! i found this on etsy, i’m such a sucker for vintage, chintzy looking decor {mixed in with modern pieces, of course, to balance out the look} for the holidays.
i am in love with this item! the pbk envelope is so absolutely darling! perfect for olive to receive little love notes from her admirers!
there you go! just a few favorite picks of the season!
hc and i were invited to kevin and lisa’s super bowl party.
i had attended their party before many, many years ago. so, i was very excited to be able to go again this year. we met up at the p’s and we all dropped the kiddies off. hc drove us all {as in my sis kim & my bro in law terry} to the party, which was a quick ride to addison. as soon as we got there, the over indulging began!
[double, double toil and trouble…matching shirts and cauldron bubble. apparently someone forgot to give hc the memo that we all were wearing plaid shirts!]
[greeted by renata, the cute and cuddly cat]
as soon as we walked in, we were offered drinks. why, yes of course! my sister and i decided to imbibe some delicious red wine {the boys reached for the beer}. kevin so graciously picked out a lovely bottle for us to drink!
[delicious wine with a great story behind the label, ardently told by kevin]
[enjoying the aroma and taste]
lisa and kevin had so much food! hey, it was the super bowl and over consumption is so american, non?
snacks, upon snacks did everyone graze on. there was guac and chips, dips, finger foods, sandwiches, bugles {yes, i said bugles}, bread, brownies, cookies, mints, candies, and so on! my appetizer of choice were two giant chocolate chip cookies. i couldn’t resist! it was home baked and looked so yummy and delicious. i downed one cookie and had to have another!
[i haven’t seen these since i was a kid! 😉 lol]
the game started and we continued to nibble {so much for watching what i eat to lose this pregnant weight!}. we were all waiting for the biggie food of the night…chili! kevin starts making his famous chili three days before the super bowl! he makes 3 huge stock pots of different kinds of chili. so stinkin’ good! he made a spicy chili, regular chili, and a vegetarian chili. there were also three types of cornbread that were brought by some guests. regular cornbread, hot chili cornbread, and bacon cornbread…wha, wha!
of course they had all the trimmings as well, tomatoes, diced onions, sour cream, shredded cheese, oh my! i tried the spicy {holy spicy!} chili and the vegetarian, both excellent eats! btw, i love cornbread…i couldn’t stop eating the cornbread! i ate it by themselves then crumpled a big muffin of cornbread all over my bowl o chili – excellent!
of the times i did pay attention to the tube, i absolutely loved the radio shack commercial!!!! it was hilarious! really? ‘the 80’s called and they want their store back’?! so freakin’ funny. there were quite a few commercials that were fabulous but this one really made me laugh out loud.
[go ahead, click on it!]
[i had to include this…love their cake topper // from etsy! something similar here. // they just got married – congrats to the beautiful couple!]
[super bowl shuffle]
[i absolutely love that terry is ‘trying’ to cross his eyes!]
unfortunately, the game was very boring. yes, boring. one, i’m not that into football and two, the seahawks just mowed, mowed over the broncos…so it wasn’t even exciting to watch. just painful.
on the bright side, hc and i took home tubs of chili for some tasty leftovers!!! woo hoo!
it had snowed the night before on friday. i had plans for an outing on saturday morning {yuck to brushing off my car. although i didn’t do it :), thank goodness for hubby charming} and i dislike driving through the snow. it has pretty much been snowing all winter! it’s been a crazy, snowy, cold, cold winter!
i got up on this windy, cold day and got ready to head out. i left the babes with the hubs to join my sister for brunch. she was getting her hair cut by misako at m&m salon. misako has been my stylist for 13 years! i found her when she was cutting hair at a salon on oak st. {no longer there, now just a distant memory} and have stuck with her ever since. it’s definitely hard to find a stylist that knows how to really cut your hair, style it, and really listen to you. love her and the salon she is at!
after thuy’s haircut, we traipsed our way to farmhouse to eat. oh my goodness! it was so windy! it cut straight through my clothes {not fun}. good thing the restaurant was only a couple of blocks away. once we arrived, we were seated upstair {nice and cozy} and proceeded with our noshing of some tasty morsels. we couldn’t resist the eggs benedict with a side of sausage. we washed it all down with some fresh orange juice. delicious.
[yummy eggs benedict]
[sistas]
after brunch, we perused around paper-source, right next door. they have such fun items, i always want everything! it’s a crafty girl’s dream! they had all their whimsical valentine’s day trinkets out. so adorbs. i can spend hours and hours in that store with my imagination running wild with crafty ideas!
i was really loving these kate spade gold dot coasters, placemats, and napkins! how fun would these be for a festive party?! yup.
it was a nice blip in our cold afternoon. after meeting, eating, and greeting, we parted ways! happy day!
i recall celebrating chinese new year every year with a big party at church! there was always a lot of food {yummy banh mi sandwiches}, decorations, games {gambling, anyone?!}, and generous red envelopes for us kiddies! that was my favorite part…receiving those little red envelopes filled with money. i loved collecting them and would get excited getting a present from anyone! my o vuong would always give me a gift on new years every year…i was always filled with anticipation to see her, knowing i’d receive a pretty little gold and red pouch stuffed with a fun surprise inside! such sweet memories!
may the year of the horse bring y’all good luck, love, happiness, longevity, wealth, and prosperity!
oh, time is already flying! olive has grown so much in the last month {that face! it’s so much chunkier}! she is so different {in such a good way, of course} from her first month. she loves to lay around. what?! is this my baby?! in her prior month, she always had to be held. the kind of holding, non-stop, where your arms feel like they will break off or paralyze with pain.
she will now lay there and coo and smile. it’s absolutely fantastic.
olive’s favorites? snuggling in my lap, sitting upright and watching ironman 3. her fave movie! she knows when the movie is on. she’ll just stare and stare at the t.v. uh oh…should i be worried i’m starting her off with too much t.v. already?! hehe, just keeding.
best part of the two month period?! oh em gee. her sleeping throughout the night. hello! it was and is magical. like a dream come true to us new parents. hallelujah.
the lansinoh nursing pads were a lifesaver! so worth it and needed. the first few weeks of breastfeeding are out of control. it protected my clothes and it protected my garments overnight. a must have!
the gerber cloth diapers are great burp cloths. they are absorbent, inexpensive, and it comes in a large pack. you dirty so many of them that having a large quantity is critical!
the boon tub is practical, functional, and so easy to store {city dweller life = small space!}. it fits perfectly over our sink, cleans up well, and we can store it, hung up, inside our closet.
the moby wrap was and is a lifesaver! recommended by my bestie carol, it keeps the babes all snug as a bug while you are hands free! it relieves your tired arms from carrying the baby all day long.
olive lives in sleepers. my sister kim suggested this and i love having o in them. those sleepless nights, having a crying baby; it is so easy and convenient to pull it up, change her and be done! no tugging on pants, no zipping up, no trying to button her in your state of confusion!
lansinoh cream…a must have. need i say more?!
olive being born in the cold season, it was necessary to have a cozy swaddle! i love, love these swaddles from pbk. it created a warm, snug, cocoon for her.
o only slept in her bouncy the first month! we are so thankful for it. she didn’t like lying down flat {the crib is collecting dust :)}, she loves being curled up in the bouncy. it is soft and cozy and it helps her sleep {can’t fight that!}. she loves it so much!
he had this stuffed animal from school, his name is rocket, and he’s supposed to take pictures of rocket with people, places, or things. he requested to snap a photo of rocket and olive for the class book. how sweet!
i love that little olive has these two awesome cousins. we love r n b and i can’t wait for olive to have more playtime with them!
reagan loves little olive…he loves holding her whenever he sees her. even when she is crying but it’s funny when she is. r continues to smile and awkwardly hold her until someone will relieve him from that duty. what a trooper!
i am so curious to see how olive will interact with her big cousins when she’s older. i can’t wait to see them grow up together! those thoughts make me smile!
[olive, reagan, and rocket]
i love these pics! how cute are they?! it’s so much cuteness, you just might explode from it!
olive and i have gotten very good at the selfies! i love taking them with her. it’s what we do when we are just sitting around watching tv or really, she’s the one watching tv…i love watching baby o! i love this one of her…’nuff said.
