children’s museum

a sunday crept up on us and can you believe that we didn’t have anything really planned?! it was a sunny, nice day out and we definitely wanted to get out and do something fun! our initial plan was to go to the zoo but it was just a little bit too chilly to stand outside for hours so we found a local children’s museum.

it was close by and we have never visited it before! we did our usual morning routine – wake, nurse, feed olive, coffee, chill, and repeat. we squeezed in a nap for ellie…well, we tried. she was a bit fussy and didn’t get a good shut eye in, so we decided to leave for the museum.

we arrived in no time and it wasn’t that crowded. we started to explore and honestly, it was a very odd feeling being there. let me explain…i just felt that parents weren’t friendly. i immediately felt a strange vibe from everyone. i would make eye contact and smile and other moms would not smile and look away. hmmmmm. unfriendly!

another annoying factor were the parents that didn’t watch their kids or care that they acted inappropriately…such as not wait their turn, not share, hog an activity, or the one that irks me the most – big kids who overtake the little ones. that gets under my skin. i become super irritated! also, the whole area was sooooo dirty. as expected but i could feel the germs and viruses bouncing off my skin. blech!

i must say, hc and i didn’t have the best experience there. of course olive loved it but we were so turned off. we were blown away at how rude some of the older kids were with the little kiddos around, how removed the parents were. don’t get me wrong, olive did her best to fend for herself and i believe to let her do her own thing and not be a helicopter mom but the big kids were bugging me although not as much as their unaware parents!

ok…venting done. we did stay for a few hours and then called it quits. olive had a ton of fun and really enjoyed herself, honestly – that is all that matters. we were happy we took her there but i don’t know if we will go there any time soon again! eep!

simple sunday

it was a lazy sunday afternoon and we had hc’s family over for lunch. it was low key and chill. his parents, sister, and nephew came over for a relaxing day of hanging out. apparently hc didn’t know when they were coming over {kind of…he had a time in mind but his parents had a different time}. well, i will say this, hc is is the worst with communication and remembering anything and according to his dad, his mom is the worst communicator. so together, it’s a disaster.

hc texts me, to tell me that his parents were going to be there in 15 minutes {he was out buying groceries}. olive and i had been playing around in the house in our pj’s and when i received the text from hc, i shooed olive into her room to get her changed. as we walked into her room, in comes his parents, sister, and daniel! what?! that wasn’t fifteen minutes! it was more like one minute warning. ugh. so, they were in our house while hc wasn’t home because he obviously didn’t know they were coming over that early and i was still changing olive and still in my pj’s!

well, no worries. we greeted everyone and i excused myself and changed. olive was quite excited to see everyone! she’s become so silly. this girl is so sassy, bossy, and defiant. gah! life of a two year old.

anyhoo, hc finally came home with food and we hung out and did what family does. talk, chill, eat, and watch movies {hc and papa like to tinker in the garage}. hahaha! it was great to have them over. it was a fabulous sunday afternoon with the fam. cheers to family time!

summery lazy day

it was a warm, gorgeous day out. this day was a day where we had a chance to run errands, relax, and slow down. it was a perfect weather day for a ride around town in the jeep! we had a whirlwind of the past few days and we wanted to take advantage of this day together to get some things accomplished around the house.

first things first, we needed to fill our empty bellies up with some food. we opted to try a brunch place in downtown dg. we chose this place because they had outdoor seating and it was a great day to eat alfresco. honestly…i don’t even remember the name of the restaurant. i am sure i will cross paths with it again, but today it will go nameless. ha!

after brunch, we headed out to a few stores. we desperately needed to buy tile. we have been in the process of remodeling our hallway and our goal to get it done is in a few weeks. we shopped a few tile stores and haven’t loved anything. so, we finally hit one more destination and hc really liked a style and color there. i trust his judgements and taste and i, actually, didn’t immediately reject it, so we moved forward with his choice.

i’m quick to say no. when we have looked at tile in the past {or anything for that matter}, i innately know whether i like it or not. there’s no hemming and hawing. i’m good like that, at least when it comes down to something personal.

after we hit a few stores and got things accomplished, we headed back home to do more stuff around the house. oh, the joys of being an adult, being a parent, and being a homeowner. it’s non-stop responsibilities and fun! and yes, it is fun {at times}…haha. depending on the day and the task.

well, one thing i can definitely say with conviction is – i can’t wait until our hallway is dunzo! woo hoo!
